congrats to china on being the first thesoft land on the moon period, america walking people around and driving offroad vehicles and jumping around over 40 years ago is ridicules, they werenteven able to properly orbit earth at that time.

Successful landing, although the newschannels here are saturated with Mandela coverage at the moment. There isn't agreat deal to see in the video, as most of it consists of an animation, and thelanding footage proper appears to have been intermittent.

The Chinese state media (Chinese Channel)has much more detailed explanation as the Jade Rabbit enters various phases ofthe landing. It is actually quite exciting 15min(full landing video) as a lotof stuff happened as various control station report their status, where thecommentator did explain very well what was going on. For example the animationis not pre-drawed but a live representation from the live data of the statusand orientation of the real moon buggy. As it get closer to the moon, the buggyautomatically scan the surface (as there is a lot of bumps) and decide for aflat area to land. It all happened in like 1min so it was pretty intense.
And for the intermittent live footage, bearin mind moon is 400,000km away from earth. It take 1.3second for light (radiowaves) to travel from moon to earth, 2.6sec if it is a bilateral transmission.I d say a picture every 5sec is not too bad.
It used to take a whole day for a probe totransmit one picture.
I hope there will be more video availablehere in English so everyone can see it, its been 37 years since anyone landedon moon. A lot has changed and there surely will be more scientific discoveriesthis time with all the new equipments on board Jade Rabbit, it is for mankindto share.
